The Seasonal
Tree
My intent was to express the most authentic response. Using a tree as my subject, I began searching common images of trees. The platform CANVA was used. The Gallery was scrolled through, clicking images as they spoke a personal definition of trees.
Images are categorized Graphics, Photos, Videos and Frames. I remained in the Graphics category until I could go no further, and having multiple images on my draft screen.
Images were separated on my draft page as living trees, dead trees, cartoon trees, art inspired trees.
Rather than searching CANVA's Photos trees, my connection to trees led me to my Google Photos account. Here I searched my personal photos for the word "tree"
From palm trees both pre and post hurricane palm trees; to oaks and cypress trees, trees seen along travels, trees that were meeting places, Christmas and other holiday trees, trees that I climbed as a
child, trees that had been processed into pencils and paper and books, including books made of paper, made of trees pleading with the reader to save the trees, to reduse reuse and recycle, explaining the benefits of trees...hundreds of pages in some books.
and then comes my most personal relation to the tree, my body and the fruit I bare.
My personal connection to trees had been harvested in literary prose, poetry text and simple words.
Here I remembered the trees I have known and the leaves I have sprouted.
Just a few years provided far more than enough.
or all that I could take.
A moment to breathe, a quick little rest and I returned to my trees, the Blessed ones aphyllous.
A return to the graphics with the freshest regress, my immediate reaction was what I wanted to explore. With only the emotions leftover like day old bread, I went to moving the trees, creating a story written some with and some without leaves.
Layer upon layer as many trees blend. A story was created from each trunk, root, branch, leaf and flower until every image was gone and I again could breathe the air the tree gives.
