oasis
in the
desert
Oasis in the Desert
Dry. Desert.
Miles from home.
From the oasis
to the desert land
This is how it all began
Parched. Dehydrated
Desperate
to soak in Life
Had I known
how it would go
I ask myself
Would I have left
Arm tingles reminders
An almost depart
Absence of feeling
hand mimics heart
I
thank
God
Prodding around
No veins to be found
So sunken
I
had
become.
Rolling of the veins
Flattened they feel like razor blades.
Doesn't matter.
Nothing
has
changed.
Did not even instigate a movement or thought
Dried out
Like a grape
to a raisin
It’s time to get out
So back to
The Fountain
I ran
Empty cups to fill,
gripping onto
with each hand.
Oasis. I am a sponge
Here I found my Home
No desert
will ever be too dry
Not for this
Coastal girl
more Rain to come.
