A Gift
Keep for yourself or
pass along to someone else
as long as the intent remains clear.
This is not about a holiday or a religion.
Nor does this pertain to a race or gender.
This has not a thing to do with politics,
platforms or justified stances.
This gift will not judge if you cannot dance.
This my friend, this is neighborly cheer.
This gift may find you pleasantly impressed
it could put your humor to the ultimate test.
For my own tradition and
sake of self preservation,
this act was done out of pure selfishness.
For it is me who enjoys handing out gifts, surprising others, enticing a Spirit of Joy.
It is me who likes to hear
the rustling of talk "Who did this?",
as their smiles reveal the part I most enjoy.
For just a moment today you may have felt,
a memory that brought about love,
a friend, possibly famiy.
In this moment you felt someone cared
and wanted you to be celebrated.
For me, that is that is what this is about.
For me this is Christmas
but I follow up my thought
by recognizing
acknowledging
resepecting
for others, this may not.
And so I say to you dear neighbors...
